Care & maintenance for carpet

Comfort, beauty, warmth – no other household purchase better communicates the style and tone of our home. Carpet is an investment that will last a long time. Proper installation by an installer that works for our company along with regular maintenance is essential in enhancing your carpet’s performance.

Carpet seams

In most carpet installations carpet seams are inevitable. Even with highly skilled installers, you will be able to detect seams. In most cases, it is the seam rise that is detectable. This “rise” at the seam area is due to 3 things.
  • With the additional thickness of the seam tape and the heating process, seams “peak.” This will be more noticeable in lower profile or patterned carpets.
  • The “arching” of the seam tape stretched during the installation process.
  • If the carpet is a cut pile, the blossoming or relaxing of the yarn at the seam area due to the heat of the seaming iron. These yarns may get fuller and stand taller. Sometimes they may be sheared to lessen this effect.

After installation

Vacuum your carpet to remove loose fibers. You may notice a slight new carpet smell, which should dissipate quickly. Ventilate the area for 48- 72 hours. If you are unusually sensitive to odors or are allergy-prone, you may want to avoid the installation area during this period.

Care after installation

We realize how important it is to protect your investment. Customers are provided with warranty and care instructions upon completion. Always follow the manufacturer’s cleaning recommendations. For example, a maintenance buff and coat is essential to extending the life of wood floors between sands. Never wax a surface-finished floor, and never use vinyl or tile floor care products on any wood floor.

Carpet pad

The color of the pad that you choose may be different than what you looked at in sample form, but the specified thickness and density factors will be the same.
