2022 Interior and Flooring Trends

2022 Interior and Flooring Trends

2022 interior design trends are shifting in a big way.

We are seeing a departure from the desire for Farmhouse, stark and dark, and a renewed appreciation for natural elements that create warmth and interest.

“There is more and more research that shows the direct influence that our homes have, not only on our moods but our overall health and well-being so, is it any wonder that in 2022—our third consecutive year in a global pandemic—the top interior design trends are again focused on making us feel emotionally at ease?”

Timothy Corrigan (Vogue)

Natural textures and accepting “imperfections” are all trends that scream 2022.

Modern style means finding connections between personality, serenity, and organic elements. Designers and homeowners are taking inspiration from the outdoors and blending them into their living spaces.

"An emphasis on natural elements and color palettes will continue to grow in 2022. Warm beiges, browns, blues, and greens will provide comfort in homes with a calming presence and a look that is easy on the eyes. Furniture with blonde wood will help keep spaces looking light and airy."

Another trend for 2022 is the return to traditional and lasting style.

We are seeing the effects of our 'buy it and throw it away' consumerism on our planet, and people are appreciating sustainable quality with a “less is more” attitude.

Working vintage finds and heritage furnishings into the home is huge. Checking out local markets, estate sales, and thrift shops for unique pieces is the new way of accessorizing without breaking the bank or the environment.

Here are a few ways to highlight these styles in your home:

Pattern play is BIG in 2022.

“We are introducing more patterns in our projects and our clients are embracing it. We don’t suggest over-mixing large, bold prints or overusing prints on all the fabrics, walls, and rugs. Instead, mixing a patterned wallpaper with a stone, wood, or brick floor that has a shape and form, like herringbone or chevron, is a great way to play with pattern without looking chaotic.”

Go for BOLD. Saturated colors are EVERYWHERE in 2022. Wallcoverings and fabrics in bold blues and bright citrines add warmth and personality.

Baskets, 3D wall art, and raw materials like wood, rattan, and stone create depth and interest in any space.

Another great way to incorporate patterns and prints is carpeting. Above All Flooring recently added Milliken carpet to our product catalog.  Milliken is an innovative company dedicated to sustainability, creativity, and style.
